Dear friend,

Index -

Well, I've recently come back from a trip to L.A. Where I attended the ICF International coaching convention, I have to say I had an absolutely wonderful time. It really was a wonderful event and I got to meet some great coaches. It was great to see Westminster Indemnity having their own exhibition stand, so I spent a lot of time talking to Gordon (and drinking coffee)

There were lots and lots of American and Canadian coach training companies exhibiting, and what I found particularly interesting was the content of the courses and the amount of money they charged. The average length of course was in the region of 150 hours with a price tag of $6,000 or more. I have to say this made me feel very good indeed, when you consider that Noble Manhattan’s practitioner diploma is now 350 hours of training and coaching with a price tag in the region of £2500 ($5,000) which includes all food accommodation etc (none of the others that I saw included food and accommodation)

The other interesting experience I had was when speaking to the owners of very many Coach training companies it was very obvious to me that their total focus was on making money by signing up as many students as they could. It was almost as if they looked at potential students as " biological units of production" i.e. ways to make money for themselves.

It made me realise that in the world of coaching most people fall into two quite distinct camps. Wolves and sheep, and I couldn't help thinking that many of those lovely coaches were being preyed upon by the Wolves.

So, if most people fall into two categories, Wolves and Sheep, where does that put Noble Manhattan Coaching ? Are we wolves or sheep ? Neither. You see I think there is a third category, called sheepdog, whose job it is to protect the sheep. To be a guardian of the flock, and that is where I see the role of Noble Manhattan Coaching. To look after our students, to take care of them and to give every possible help we can to enable them to build a financially rewarding sustainable business while at the same time protecting them.

Have a great month
Warmest

Gerard

Normally £600 + VAT – NOW £400 + VAT including FREE Gift!

This action packed two-day course, using cutting edge techniques, is quite unlike anything else in the U.K. market today. Although there are many courses available covering the importance of goals and setting goals, our innovative approach takes the concept one important and fundamental step further; and reveals how to actually achieve those goals.

The course is in two parts. Gerard O'Donovan teaches the Goal Achievement and Scott Milway teaches the Primordial Sound Meditation. Gerard and Scott took time out to be on the phone to speak in depth about this fantastically life changing course. We where able to get this recorded and here is the link for you to listen to them both discussing the course in great detail.

http://www.noble-manhattan.com/audio/quantum_goal/

I asked Scott "What does the course mean and what can it do for you?" and this is what he said...........

"The main point is that everyone should have goals to work towards - worthy goals if they are going to align with their values - and to propel those goals into reality. We can help by aligning them with their value and belief system, ensuring that they get placed in their intention system, and thenceforth by using the meditation as a catalyst, to give more power to their intentions, which will then be grounded in the field of infinite possibilities. As long as their attention is then placed correctly (affirmations help here) then they will not fail!”

Places are limited so please be in touch with me as soon as possible to assure your reservation and to benefit from the discounted rate also.

technology can help us make "deposits," or cause us to make "withdrawals," in another person's emotional bank account. A deposit would be keeping a promise, being kind and courteous, clarifying expectations, making apologies, being open to feedback and being loyal to those who are absent. Stephen Covey

Distinction: Love Vs. Listening

    Definitions

  • Love - The sovereign preference of myself for that of another (O. Chambers).
  • Listening - Close personal focus on what another is saying and how they are saying it.
  • Comparisons

  • A high level of devotion to another vs. A high level of concentration on the other's communication
  • Paying attention to another in a way that is good for them vs. Paying attention to what another is saying

Example
John listens to his clients with such compassion and integrity that they feel heard. Jan waits for an opportunity to give an opinion, or give advice, so while it is worthwhile to talk to her, one does feel sometimes that she has not heard them.

Key Point
Paying attention to what another is saying, i.e., listening to them empathetically and intuitively, can hardly be distinguished from love.

Benefits
Paying attention to people, primarily by listening to them intently, occurs so infrequently that it is a surprise to find it happening to them. In coaching, as in other fields, listening is vital to the process. To listen carefully, is to enter that realm of communication where love is.

Related distinctions
Love vs. Attend to
Listening with your eyes vs. Listening
Listening with vs. Listening for

WordZ: Synonym for straying
is the word that describes something which is wandering from its path? This could be someone or something which has no fixed direction or someone who is misbehaving or making an error in judgment. The _____ teenager was returned to the care of his parents.

Synonym: straying
Opposite: virtuous
Did you guess it?

ERRANT (ER-int) In a sense, any time we are off course and off purpose, we have made a mistake. When we are fully oriented around what we do best and we are free of unhealthy influences that we can most easily fulfil ourselves and contribute to others.

Other Examples: an errant knight, an errant husband, an errant taste in dress, an errant Frisbee hit him in the head

Close, but no cigar: ROVING. Roving doesn't have the double meaning that errant does. Roving means wandering, without the connotation of doing wrong. For example, you might refer to a roving pack of dogs but to an errant gang of teenagers.

Interesting Titbit: Errant comes from a root meaning "to wander about."

Why Men Marry

Men can be captivated by sex for a while, but in time they hear the call of a deeper hunger, a more primal need.

I awoke one too many mornings with a stranger... feeling isolated, disconnected and alone. I had lost contact with myself, my purpose and the deeper significance of life.

The thrill of sexual carousing reveals itself an empty promise in an arena without dignity or reason.

It's an expensive activity with no final achievement where empty promises have ever fewer takers. Men that marry too young often miss this lesson and some end up having affairs. To be a husband and a father doesn't come naturally to a man. They are acquired skills and most men are simply not inclined to give up all women for a single woman that requires his loyalty and generosity for the rest of his life. Men that master these skills do so through honour, discipline and self control. This is a transformation of man's natural drives and deserves our respect.

Men marry for many reasons and most of them lead to divorce.
But it's not just a desire for companionship, sex or even a genuine realization of their pointless existence that transforms the single man. No. In the end when men marry for life. They marry for love.

When I fell in love with my wife, and I do again almost everyday, a deeper level of spirit sprang up through my life and transformed my relationship to the world.

I became a Spiritual Warrior at war with my own unconsciousness.

My own detachment and emptiness had served me in the past but now they are my most persistent adversaries. My only weapon is Love that constantly demands I surrender to a higher cause in the chaos of ever changing emotions. This transformation is essential. For it is the passage from man to gentleman that forms the foundation of civilized society.

Women cause evolution when they transform male sexual desire into love.
Her values of exclusivity, longevity and stability spark his love and bring a deeper meaning to his life. Love, marriage and childbirth are fundamental physically defined emotional experiences. The significance of these experiences for a woman are the source of her moral strength.

Today's "Cosmopolitan" woman with short-term vision tries to 'quick-fix' relationships by getting him sexually addicted. Never considering the transformation of masculine nature she undermines her own foundation offering sexual gratification as an alternative to love. She thinks: I'll get him 'hooked' and he'll change. They are wrong.

An "addict-able" man is not a "committable" man.

Men change slowly but transformation is immediate. In a shallow world that is pulling and pushing you to be like it, holding out for a higher purpose feels pointless. Quick fix women think "If I don't sleep with him some girl will" and they're right. But women cannot avoid the impact their sexual choices have on the outcome of relationships.

Sexuality is one of our deepest sources of identity, emotion and energy. Its connection with loves deeper meaning is essential to lifelong relationships. Successful societies are base on customs intended to channel male sexuality into productive, long term relationships. Men are attracted by sex but they stay for love. And women are simply better equipped to know the difference.

A woman's grace is eternal. Her beauty and sex appeal are fleeting. Use them wisely. Men might say I love you for sex. But in the end they marry for love. Gregory Morgan 11/4/07

Warmest Regards
The Noble Manhattan Team
