Well one of my dreams is very close to becoming reality. In the background
I have been working over the last two years to create our own charitable arm. This is now on the point of being launched. We are looking at probably January for a proper launch.
This is special charitable business is called the Noble Foundation. It is designed purely to help families in disadvantaged parts of the world to get themselves into a position where they are self-sufficient. We are linking the concept of micro-financing with that of coaching and mentoring to create what I believe will be a most unique offering.
At the moment we just have a holding page at
www.noble-foundation.com but at least it will give you an idea of what were going to do.
We will be asking people who want to, to work with us to spread this word around the world. We are going to need a lot of coaches who want to help disadvantaged people. In places like India and Africa.
In fact, I am going to parts of Africa in six weeks time on a fact-finding mission on my motorbike. Going through Morocco into the Western Sahara and possibly Mauritania and Algeria (depending on border controls and bandits etc)
Looking to find any particular communities that would benefit from our new charitable division.

October 7, 2008 - IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A British business chief is leading a motorbike expedition through North West Africa searching for good causes in need of financial help.
Gerard O’Donovan, CEO of Noble Manhattan, is taking a road-trip through Spain, Morocco and Western Sahara to find women who would benefit from cash loans to get back on their feet.
The money will give their business the start it needs until they can afford to pay the cash back. It could help buy livestock such as goats or chickens for breeding, eating and selling or raw materials for producing goods such as baskets or clothes.
The money will be handed out through the Noble Foundation – a charitable business being launched by Gerard in January next year to provide micro-finance in India and Africa. A coach will operate in each country to give people additional business support in achieving their goals.
Gerard, a father of three boys, aged 18, 16 and nine, from Weymouth, Dorset, is investing around £20,000 of his own money in the project and has already received financial pledges from other individuals.
He will be joined by senior coaches on the motorbike trip, which will also help raise funds for the foundation, setting off by ferry from Plymouth to Santander, Spain, on November 23 and returning back to Plymouth on December 15 .
The team might also visit Mauritania, Mali and Algeria – bandits and border controls allowing. They plan to stay in budget accommodation or with locals they meet along the way.
“There will be no camera crew, no safety wagons and not a Ewan McGregor lookalike in sight,” said Gerard, 50, who plans to write to the Moroccan embassy beforehand for help finding people who might benefit from the loans.
“I want to get as close to real life as possible, it’s meant to be an adventure, not a five star holiday, but a way for us to connect with the very people we want to help.
“It’s a fact-finding mission before the Foundation launches in January next year. It’s going to lend money to very needy people, women only because it has been shown that women will use the money for the benefit of the family whereas men might not.
“The whole concept of micro financing is that we can change someone’s life for £200 to £500.”

Volunteer Request
External Communications
A volunteer is required to work within the Operations Team to provide a communication link between the ECI and its externally accredited course providers.
As a newly created role, it is envisaged that the post holder will be responsible for contacting externally accredited course providers to ensure that the courses they are providing meet the standards set and expected by the ECI. It will be their role to make recommendations to both the course provider and the ECI in relation to development of action plans. This could be either developmental or recommending direct action where infringements occur.
An additional aspect of the role is to develop strong relationships with the course providers and to make recommendations for further accredited status where appropriate.
Working directly with the operations team, there will be strong links to other departments, including Marketing, Accreditation, Enquiries and Sales.

I attended a meeting a few weeks and one of the organisers was explaining how networking had helped him go from redundancy to having a lucrative business he loved in the course of two years. While he wasn’t a great public speaker, there was something about him that made me want to give him business: he was congruent.
“Congruent” is a description of how you are when what you do, say, & deeply believe are all aligned. Congruence is a sort of ‘deep honesty’ about who we are as individuals, & it is attractive. People are powerfully attracted to congruent individuals.
So how do you go about becoming congruent? Well, here are a few tips:
1) Figure out your values, then honour them.
Values are “what’s important”. Examples include helping others, security, freedom, learning, love, family, contribution etc. You may know some of these right away, while others may take some digging. One way you can find out what you value is to identify something you really want, then ask…
“What will that give me that I wouldn’t otherwise have?”
When you get the answer to that question, ask it again, for example:
Q: What do I want?
A: A profitable landscaping business.
Q: “What will that give me that I wouldn’t otherwise have?”
A: Work I love doing.
Q: “What will that give me that I wouldn’t otherwise have?”
A: Freedom.
When you go as far as you can, you’ll end up with a core value: what it is that’s really important to you. (I learned this question from the wonderful Ian Watson at www.ianwatsonseminars.com/ – thanks Ian!)
2) Pay attention to your body.
Your body & neurology have been developed over thousands of years to provide you with unerring feedback about congruence. When you thank someone for a gift you don’t actually like, saying how lovely it is, that uncomfortable feeling in your body is an incongruence signal – a sign that you’re ‘out of tune’. When you have a deep sense of peace & joy, that’s a sign that you’re aligned & going in the right direction. One way to achieve greater congruence is just eliminate all activities that lead to incongruence. The fast track is just to…
3) Do what you love.
When you do what you love & let go of everything else, you get to spend more & more time experiencing a sense of joy. As well as being great fun, this is also highly attractive – people really like to be around someone who’s doing what they love!
One of the things I love doing is NLP Training. NLP is one of the best approaches I’ve found for helping people to live congruently & create the lives they choose. When I’m working with other people to help them become more fully themselves, I experience that sense of deep honesty that comes from being fully myself. This sense of being truly yourself is the most powerful ‘life-compass’ there is.
Business Essentials
The ‘attractive’ power of congruence works just as well for businesses as it does for individuals. We can all think of examples of businesses where ‘The Company Values’ include words like ‘people’, ‘integrity’ & ‘customer loyalty’, but where the business’ actions & behaviours don’t support those values. One the other hand, you may have done business with a company where their behaviours match their values. This company is congruent, & that congruence sends an unconscious message to people that says “You can trust this company to do what they say they will”. So just check…
Are your company’s values clear to you?
Do its actions & attitudes fit with its values?
If not, & you want your business to start being more congruent & attractive, it’s probably time to start making some changes!
